Curing Diseases Through Your Diet

Every week, news stories reveal that taking a particular herb, food or supplement can have a positive effect on our health. Many diseases can be reversed, controlled and cured if we change the way we eat or through other natural means.

Doesn't it make sense to learn how what we eat can help prevent and even cure such diseases. This blog is dedicated to providing such information directly and through valuable links and other resources.

Feces Cures Cancer

Many years ago (around 1972) I published a cartoon that looked like this: A man was reading a newspaper. You could see his facial expression and he looked very surprised. The headline of the newspaper read (I am editing one word) " Sh-t Cures Cancer!"

In 1970's, it seemed that there was a new cancer cure every week, which would then be dismissed and replaced with the latest medical "cure."

Now 36 odd years later, there is still no blanket cure for cancer. The cancer rate for all cancers is stable (this means that the percentage of the population being diagnosed with cancer remains steady). And there has been a some decline in cancer deaths from some types of Cancer.

Here is an example in non-smoking, European men, aged 36-69, in 1965, the death rate due to cancer was 2.30 per 1,000. In 2000, the death rate was 2.20 per thousand. While the trend is in the right direction, a decline of .1 over years is a disappointment. Has medicine and the drug companies failed us?

What can you do yourself to prevent cancer? The drug companies want your money, not necessarily your good health. You have to take personal responsibility for your health.

Eat organic - the studies on good nutrition state over and over again that whole foods prevent cancers.

Remove toxins from your water - both what you drink and what you bathe in. (See blog entry about Filtering Your Water.

Relax, play and laugh - reducing stress helps to maintain your body's PH alkaline - preventing the growth of cancer cells.

Mostly change your lifestyle to remove poisons from your home and environment and eat real foods - not packaged foods. These are the steps that can help you from being on the wrong side of the statistics.

So feces does not really cure cancer, but the medical and drug companies aren't doing the job as well as they should either.

When Beauty is Not Skin Deep - Stretch Marks

On this blog I have looked at serious diseases such as cancer and warned of serious problems like toxins in our food and water. But less "serious" bodily concerns can have profound effects on one's health and quality of life.

Stretch marks occur when the skin is asked to expand beyond its elastic abilities. This most often occurs when one gains weight too quickly or during a pregnancy when a woman's abdomen and breasts grow larger in a short period of time. The skin tries to stretch and adapt during these times, but when it cannot expand, connective tissues are formed that look like bands of scars across the skin. These scar-like bands are stretch marks and few people find them pretty.

In fact, stretch marks can be a source of embarrassment to many people - diminishing their self-esteem. People with stretch marks might not going swimming or take a stroll on the beach because it means wearing clothes that would reveal the marks on their skin.

But there is no reason why your stretch marks should get you down. There are natural ways to eliminate stretch marks or prevent them from occurring in the first place. Through good nutrition and stress relief, along with not taking certain medications, you can fade stretch marks and feel good about looking in the mirror again.

There are many foods that can help you: Olive Oil (The Moisturizer Of The Ancient Greeks), Vitamin E Oil (Protects Skin Cells With Antioxidants), Castor Oil (A Potent Skin Remedy), Ground Coffee, (The Little Known Exfoliator), Peanut butter, (Maintain Normal Skin Function In A Jif) and Aloe Vera, (The Beauty Secret Of Cleopatra) are just some of the foods and natural products that can make a difference in your life.

If you gained weight quickly and then lost it again, you may have stretch marks you want to get rid of. If you have recently become pregnant, you maybe worried about getting stretch marks (NOTE: There are somethings you should not do to prevent stretch marks, if you are pregnant.) I would like to recommend to you the e-book, Solutions and Treatments for Stretch Marks.
